This finely detailed honey bee in flight was wood burned onto a thin birch plywood heart-shaped ornament using a process known as pyrography. Notice the simple honeycomb design on the back to complete this handmade ornament.
After sanding the slice super-smooth, I wood burned the owl image onto it. The wood was finished with wax and lacquer producing a smooth surface with a subtle shine that seals and protects the wood.
Such a beautiful and important insect!
I live in North Florida and am inspired by the flora and fauna in my area.

Length of the wood slice is approx. 3 inches.
A twine cord will be included as seen in the picture.
