To create this handmade ornament a beautiful Gopher Tortoise was wood burned onto a birch wood slice through a process known as pyrography. I live in North Florida which was the inspiration for this design. Gopher Tortoises are a threatened species and are protected by Florida law. Notice the attention to detail in this image.
The surface and sides of the wood slice were sanded smooth. Wax and lacquer created a smooth surface with a subtle shine that seals and protects the wood.
1/2 inch thick
Diameter of the wood slice is approx. 2 7/8 inches.
A twine cord will be included as seen in the picture.
