An Australian coin was paired with a beautiful, natural stone to create this unique necklace. The bronze coin had a wonderful copper-color patina and featured a feather-tailed glider, also known as a pygmy gliding possum. Australia has a fascinating array of animals and celebrates them in many ways, one being on their coins. The 1 cent coin was dated 1979. I cleaned, polished, drilled a hole, and domed the coin making it a perfect accent for the beach stone. The river rock was from Canada. It was an earthy combination of terracotta-red and black as seen in the pictures. I polished the stone with a light coating of bees wax which enhanced the colors and gave the stone a smooth, satin texture. Everything was wire wrapped with silver metal wire and suspended from a copper plated cable chain secured by a lobster clasp.
A unique piece of natural/coin jewelry, perfect for everyday wear or something special!
The wired stone and coin hang 1 3/4 inches (45mm) from a 24 inch (60.9cm) copper plated cable chain secured by a lobster clasp. The stone is 1 1/8 (29mm) long and 3/4 inch (19mm) wide.
